Bernard Palissy, a 16th Century French ceramic artist, inspires the platters dated 1999 through 2001. The themes in this work deal with air, land and water and the magical natural world around us. These platters are 18" in diameter, slip-cast, wheel-altered, decorated with low-fire underglazes and fired in an electric kiln to cone 04. I use a silkscreen technique, coupled with layering, heating and washing the underglaze surfaces. Click on an image for a larger version. |
